Whiteface Early Snow

After "vacationing" for four days of rain and clouds, finally a nice day! Our top-priority was a trip up Whiteface Mountain.

We arrived a little after 9:00, only to be told the road is too snowy and to check back in a couple of hours [sigh]. But, as you will see, we did return—and our diligence was rewarded!

Suggestions are welcome - just send me an email.

Tortured Conifers

Whiteface Christmas Trees

These trees take a lot of abuse.

This picture was the December page of our fourth annual calendar.

"Snow-shrouded Summit Castle"

Snow-shrouded Summit Castle

The castle at the summit is barely visible in this shot, but you can see how the snow has stuck to everything. The right side of the summit is shown in the next picture.

Nature Walk—Closed!

A view of behind the summit castle and the start of the nature trail to the peak (closed due to slippery conditions). The snow was especially pretty on the wall at the lower left (detailed in the next photo).
